User-Friendly Interface

No more of those standard HTML input file="" elements. Image Uploader™ allows the user to navigate folders in a familiar way as is done with the file manager, select necessary files (drag-n-drop is supported), and upload them in one click.

When the upload starts, a progress bar and estimated upload time is shown to the user. This provides the user with accurate information on how much data has been uploaded and how long it will take to complete the upload. This also allows the user to know if the upload has hung up or stopped. Image Uploader™ can be programmed to attempt to resume the upload after connection breaks, which saves your users from having to start all over, very convenient especially with large image files.

Image Uploader™ has a native user interface for the platform the user is on. Windows users see a familiar Windows interface just as Mac users see a Mac interface and Linux users see Linux look and feel. These familiar interfaces allow the user to work in a way that they are accustomed to, this way there is no need for them to spend a lot of time to understand and use Image Uploader™.

If you are building an application for non-English speakers, you can easily localize Image Uploader™ to any language you want. This exciting feature can help you to expand your user base. The translation to the following languages is even already shipped with Image Uploader™:

Image Uploader™ includes a lot of great features that make it invaluable for a big variety of web applications: from simple family photo albums through large corporate databases.

With Image Uploader™ you can:

  • Upload not just separate files, but also entire folders.
  • Upload several files concurrently and therefore increase an overall upload speed.
  • Distribute the upload between multiple servers to balance webserver load.
  • Configure restrictions for files allowed to be uploaded to your server using different criteria: file size, file type, image dimensions.
  • Upload not just files but also any additional data you need. You can append it through JavaScript or even just use standard HTML forms.
  • If you upload images, you can optimize the upload size by reducing image dimensions. E.g. if your users upload 5 Mpix photos (2592 × 1944) but you need only 800 × 600 image, you can configure Image Uploader™ to resize photos to this size. As a result instead of photos with average size 2 MB you will get files with size about 60 KB. This way you will reduce traffic (and increase upload speed) in 33 times!

Image Uploader™ is an ideal solution, when building a site for photo businesses. It has the features which makes Image Uploader™ a crucial part of any photo hosting or online print ordering site:

  • Displays thumbnails when the user navigates files.
  • Generates any number of thumbnails for each uploaded photo at the client side and sends them along with the original file (configurable).
  • Enables users to rotate photos directly in Image Uploader™. Moreover, photos can be rotated automatically, based on EXIF information.
  • Displays quality meter for photos to indicate the best acceptable print size.

Platform Independent

Image Uploader™ can be used with any browsers and operating systems that support Java runtime 1.4. It means all groups of users can use the advantages of Image Uploader™. In particular, the following browsers are supported:

Customizable

Image Uploader™ is customizable. You can change the appearance by modifying colors, line styles, and so on for each element of the user interface. This way you can fit Image Uploader™ to any look-and-feel.

You can extend Image Uploader™ features using additional HTML and JavaScript. In particular, you can upload additional data along with the files (album name, author, user ID, etc). Another example of JavaScript usage would be displaying the user account quota (e.g. limitation for the file number or the account space), shopping cart for print orders, etc.

If you need to customize it more than the standard settings allow, you may purchase the source code for Image Uploader™. This will allow you to make whatever changes you find necessary.
